On this week’s edition of Capitol Report on News9, commentator Patrick B. McGuigan called attention to a legislative race with two likable and hard-working candidates. In Oklahoma City’s state House District 85,

Democratic incumbent Cyndi Munson won the seat in 2014, taking the place of long-time Republican Rep. David Dank.

This year, Republican Matt Jackson may regain the seat for the GOP. McGuigan said it was encouraging to see a race with two good people competing.

In other news, McGuigan honored the memory of Robert Dell Lemon, who died Oct. 22 at the age of 87. McGuigan said Lemon was a generous supporter of numerous liberal causes.

McGuigan recalled a conversation when he warned Lemon he was endorsing candidates on which they disagreed. Lemon replied that he believed in freedom of the press, and appreciated the veteran newsman’s perspective.

Putting on an old-fashioned “press” hat, McGuigan praised Bob Lemon for a life well-lived as a man of honor and integrity.
