August 9, 2016 – In the August 23 Republican runoff for Oklahoma County Clerk, The City Sentinel endorses incumbent Carolynn Caudill for another four-year term.

In an age where health care costs are spiraling out of control, Caudill has been an innovator and pioneer for many years. She established for county employees a program that assured high quality procedures saving taxpayers some $1.74 million, and employees and retirees an astonishing $650,000. She did this with a free market-oriented approach to insurance benefits management.

There is nothing new about Caudill’s passion for efficiency and productivity in the office she runs. Her budget for the current fiscal year is actually $750,000 less than it was in Fiscal Year 2011-12.

Her demand for efficiency has reduced the number of full-time employees from 69 just a few years ago to 53 today. For 21 straight years, her office has garnered the Certification of Achievement for excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The list of her positive achievements is lengthy, impressive and consistent with what she has promised citizens of the Sooner State’s most populous county throughout her tenure.

Some public officials and virtually all candidates for public office talk a good game. Caudill actually delivers on the job, and in the real world of governance.

On August 23, Republicans are encouraged to support Carolynn Caudill, a fiscal conservative who has actually produced promised results – leaner, more efficient and more productive government.
