Staff Report

In late November, FLINT announced Joshua Valentine as its new guest chef. Valentine is part of the inaugural Guest Chef Program to provide Oklahoma City residents with a variety of contemporary culinary styles.

FLINT, located in downtown Oklahoma City will continue with its concept of providing upscale casual American cuisine.

Valentine was a finalist in season 10 of the hit Bravo show, ‘Top Chef.’  A Del City native, Valentine attended culinary school and went on to gain experience at an array of restaurants, including Restaurant Alma in Minneapolis, Local, FT33 and Stephan Pyles in Dallas, along with several Dallas and Oklahoma City-based restaurants. Valentine is the first person in FLINT’s new Guest Chef Program.

“We are thrilled to have Joshua at FLINT,” Elizabeth Howe, executive chef of FLINT, said in a press release sent to The City Sentinel. “He will bring delicious dining to our guests with his flair for great cuisine creations and extensive experience ranging from farm-to-table to upscale steakhouses.”

FLINT executives created the Guest Chef Program to provide local residents with different chefs’ interpretations of the FLINT menu. Those in the program will fill the role of  “Chef De Cuisine” working alongside Howe. This program will help implement FLINT’s Step Program that develops and progresses prep cooks to cooks to sous chefs and beyond.

Currently, there is no set timeline for a chef’s duration of stay, and future guest chefs are welcome from outside of Oklahoma City, the restaurant management said. No major menu changes are expected, but guests will get to experience each chef’s unique cooking style and restaurant specials.

“Expanding the Oklahoma City chef offerings is something that FLINT is honored to be a part of,” said Blane Thompson, general manager of the Colcord Hotel. “Guests of the hotel and FLINT will get to experience something new with each chef, and we are excited to debut the program with Joshua.”

FLINT Restaurant is located in the Colcord Hotel at 15 N. Robinson Avenue. For more information about the menu and hours of operation, visit www.flintokc.com.

FLINT Restaurant, managers say, “aims to provide a consistently enjoyable dining experience by offering consciously crafted and creatively presented high-quality local fare. Our passionate staff aspires to deliver and execute extraordinary service in an elegant yet casual setting.”
