The first ever Mix On Main event will be held on Friday, October 23, in Norman from 6 to 10 p.m.  The free event, presented by Carriage House and Oklahoma National Guard, will take place on Main Street between 24th Avenue NW and Mercedes Drive.

Mix on Main will offer live music, food trucks and beer/wine gardens as well as outdoor family fun activities. The pre-game festivities will feature local businesses promoting the continued renewal of one of Norman’s premiere corridors.

Vilona Michael Event/Marketing Director for the celebration said, “Community is at the heart of this event, bringing people together and raising the profile of Norman. This event enables local businesses to begin conversations and partner with each other, it encourages individuals to step outside and meet their neighbors.

“Business owners, city leaders, residents, visitors, and families are all invited to gather on what we’re hoping is a beautiful fall evening. It’s the perfect time to mix and mingle with other Main Street friends and fans,” Michael added.

There will be plenty to see and do including cuisine from Big Truck Tacos, Eskimo Sno, Mutts Amazing Hot Dogs, The Candy Basket, La Baguette, and Abbey Road Catering. An interactive gaming truck, glow golf, Indian motorcycles, and barre yoga classes will be available to entertain folks of all ages.

Participants are invited inside a variety of boutiques and businesses for shopping, food tastings and giveaways.

Gina Mitchell, owner of Mitchell’s Jewelry said, “We have been on Main Street since 1981 and in our present Main Street location since February 2013. Our corridor already provides fabulous shopping and dining options but we are kicking it up for Mix on Main with cool music venues as well as kid/family friendly options.

“We’ll will be giving away a $50 off a $250 purchase gift card to everyone who visits our store, plus there will be a drawing for a special piece of jewelry,” Mitchell said. “One of my favorites, Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails will be serving delightful bites in our store and will be set up outside with beer and wine. It’s a Friday night in Norman experience you can’t miss.”

Michael Canaday, of the Oklahoma National Guard said, “We are having a gaming trailer outside the National Guard office for all to play X Box One games as well as Playstation 4 games. We’ve partnered with Indian motorcycles and they will be bringing many of their motorcycles to display.

“The Mix on Main event reminds us that this community is important. exciting, beautiful and most of all, it’s our family,” Canady continued. It is designed to keep our friends, colleges and schoolmates here to enjoy the evening instead of heading to Moore or OKC.

“This community has many National Guard soldiers and they believe in and serve this community proudly,” Canaday added. “Please join our family October 23rd for a full night of music, good food and great fellowship.”
