OKLAHOMA CITY, April 4, 2011 – American Airlines rolls out the red carpet tomorrow, April 5, at Will Rogers World Airport, to celebrate their inaugural nonstop flight to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  The new route will be served by American Eagle’s Bombardier CRJ-700 fleet, now offering a first class cabin.
The American Airlines station at Will Rogers  plans to celebrate the inaugural in true Hollywood fashion with a red carpet, a giant Oscar, a Walk of Fame, karaoke and various prizes, including a chance to win two roundtrip tickets on American Airlines. The festivities will occur at the American Airlines ticket counter between noon and 2:00pm, with an official ribbon-cutting at 1:30pm.
“American Airlines’ new nonstop flight to Los Angeles provides another great option for Oklahoma City’s traveling public,” says director of airports Mark Kranenburg. “American’s decision to add this new route makes a statement about their confidence in the Oklahoma City market.”
The Los Angeles area is one of Oklahoma City’s most popular destination cities, ranking 3rd in total number of origin and destination passengers. The addition of American’s new route brings the total of daily nonstop departures to LAX to three.  United Airlines has served the market with nonstop service since 2006.
