St. Patrick’s Day parade draws strong community involvement

With more than 100 entries, this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade lasted over two hours. Participants included several dance troupes, law enforcement, car clubs, dog clubs, varied civic organizations and scouting units.

The 2010 Grand Marshal Award went to the Oklahoma Massed Pipe and Drums. Other top honors included the Northwest Classen High School Junior ROTC, which swept all four awards presented to such units.

Things looking up for Jesus House, where no one is turned away

Like other homeless shelters, the Jesus House has seen a decline in cash donations, said assistant director Jesse Mercer.In fact, there has been a down trend for several years. Eventually it had to close its family quarters. Legally, family quarters must be maintained separately from the general population and it simply became too expensive.
