McGuinness student signs softball letter of intent with SNU

Bishop McGuinness senior, Emily Hale recently signed a letter of intent to play softball for Southern Nazarene University in Bethany. Emily is the daughter of Diana Hale of Yukon.

Emily expects to graduate in May, 2010 and currently has a GPA of 3.211 weighted and unweighted. She received the Oded Amitz-lev Endowment Fund Scholarship Award in 2008 and last year she was received the David Harlow Rice Scholarship Fund Award.

Active in the drama department’s Queen’s Players, Emily has been the backstage Assistant Manager for the past four years. She is also in the competitive Speech and Drama Club and Clancy Club.

In sports, Emily has played softball for the past three years. She is also on the McGuinness Bowling team and was the Team Captain in the spring of 2009-10. Emily has completed over 150 hours of community service. Organizations include Down Syndrome Buddy Walk, Autism Speaks Annual Walk and the Yukon Spirit League.

Emily enjoys working in theater and participating in projects for the disabled. While at Southern Nazarene University, she intends to play softball and major in Early Elementary and Special Education. She hopes to be a preschool teacher for children with mild to moderate disabilities.
