Robin Dorner-Townsend, longtime sales director for The City Sentinel, has become associate publisher of the weekly newspaper based in MidTown Oklahoma City. In making the announcement, Patrick B. McGuigan, leader of the news gathering team at The City Sentinel, said, “Robin has been performing the job of an associate publisher for some time, and has become a critical element in our success. She is now a MidTown leader, and I know she will continue to do a great job for us.”

“I enjoy Midtown so much and have appreciated the support of our readers and advertisers,” said Townsend. “This is such an interesting time in the newspaper industry and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow professionally and personally with this great adventure in journalism.”

Townsend also said “I am grateful to have been able to work with Mr. McGuigan over the years. He has been a great mentor.”

McGuigan, who has served as managing editor, became senior editor at The City Sentinel this month. In disclosing his new position as editor of CapitolBeatOK, an online news service, McGuigan said, “I will be working full-time from an office in the Capitol building to cover the Oklahoma Legislature and all of state government. I look forward to continued affiliation with The City Sentinel in the years ahead.”

Last month, McGuigan named veteran journalist Stacy Martin as Associate editor at the newspaper.
