In this week’s edition of Capitol Report on News9, Pat McGuigan applauded Freedom of Information Oklahoma. At a recent banquet, the group honored two journalists – Ziva Branstetter and Karen Holp – along with state Auditor and Inspector Gary Jones.

All three are passionate advocates of government transparency. FOI Oklahoma also announced that the city of Norman “won” the “BlackHole” award for suppressing public access to a video of OU running back Joe Mixon striking a woman in the face.

In other news, McGuigan said Bernie Sanders’ win in Wisconsin was significant, but that the Vermont Socialist is under scrutiny for not understanding public policy.

For Republicans, Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s victory has sparked discussion of possible running-mates. Wrapping up, news9’s Alex Cameron said rock legend Bruce Springsteen “emptied the tank” at a sold-out concert in Oklahoma City.
