OCU to Host First Round NAIA Baseball Championship

Oklahoma City University hosts the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket on May 12-15 at Jim Wade Stadium.

The NAIA selected Oklahoma City as an Opening Round host for the sixth time in seven years. The Stars will seek a 15th NAIA World Series bid as the nine winners from the five-team double-elimination tournaments will make the World Series on May 22-29 in Lewiston, Idaho.

The 45 qualifying teams and pairings will be unveiled May 8. Oklahoma City won the 2005 national championship while finishing runner-up each year from 2002-04.

Coach Denney Crabaugh has led OCU to 1,299 wins. The Stars aim to give Crabaugh his 1,300th victory against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 2 p.m. Friday in Waxahachie, Texas.

Fourth-ranked OCU has gone 31-10. Stars pitchers have struck out 346 batters to rank sixth in the NAIA, while OCU’s 2.17 doubles per game ranks 10th. See where OCU ranks statistically in the NAIA by clicking here.

Jim Wade Stadium has been the home of Oklahoma City University baseball since 1976.

The stadium has undergone several renovations, including new backstop, chairback seats and metal bleachers, dugout, scoreboard, sprinkler systems, wrought-iron fences and brick columns installed. Lights were installed in 2005, making night games possible for the first time at Jim Wade Stadium.

It was named after Gen. Jim Wade in April 2005. Wade is a former OCU baseball, basketball and football player and an OCU Athletic Hall of Famer. Wade is a retired Air Force general who was decorated for service in the Korean War.
