This week, Oklahoma City will have the opportunity to see gentlemen strut their stuff on the catwalk as they bare their legs for charity.  The one night only event, Glitz, Glamour & Guys, is meant to raise funds and awareness for Operation Smile, an international nonprofit medical service organization that helps children suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.

The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, at Lumpy’s Sports Bar & Grill, 12325 N May, in the Town & Country Shopping Center.

Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. Often they are unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some cases children are shunned and rejected. Many parents can’t afford to give them the surgeries needed to live a normal life. Operation Smile works to heal children’s smiles, forever changing their lives.

Three local marketing firms, Dynasty Marketing Strategies, Inc., Elle Communications, Inc., and OKConcepts, Inc., hope to raise enough funds to provide a minimum of 10 operations for these children in need.

Lumpy’s Sports Bar & Grill is partnering with this event offering use of its venue, providing a special event dinner entree and coordination of a silent auction and raffle drawing.

Sixteen months ago, restaurant owner Chris Cochrane opened Lumpy’s second location in north Oklahoma City’s Quail Creek area. Since then, he and executive chef Patrick Manes have held 5 benefits, raising nearly $100,000.

“When Holly asked if they could use our establishment to do this, Chris and I immediately said yes,” said Manes.  “One of my best friend’s youngest son was born with a cleft palate. It may sound corny, but I believe you just have to give back.”

“For the event we are providing a special dinner entree with all the proceeds going to Operation Smile,” said Manes. “For the silent auction, we will have lots of sports memorabilia including items from OKC Thunder, OU and OSU.  Our purveyors Budweiser and Coors Light will also donate some fun stuff and we will have other items to raffle off.”

The silent auction and raffle will begin 5:30 p.m. and the all male beauty contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. Raffle tickets are $1 each.  Live music featuring The Gentry Phillips Band will start at 9 p.m.

Male employees from the three firms will show off their talents and assets by competing in three areas: Best Smile, Most Talented and the highly anticipated category – Best Legs.

Audience members will be asked to donate cash to their favorite male contestant. The gentleman raising the most money at the end of the evening will be crowned king.

One of those would be kings, Elle Communications assistant manager Alex “Zanner” Cramme said, “The Glitz, Glamour & Guys event is very unique in that we get to raise money and awareness for a good cause, with an opportunity to be acceptably goofy for a night. It should be a good time.”

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Operation Smile for its mission to “mobilize a world of generous hearts to heal children’s smiles and transform lives across the globe.”

To promote the all male charity revue, DMS encourages supporters to utilize hash tag #OSBestLegs while spreading the word on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“As one of the fastest growing marketing firms in Oklahoma, we find it our responsibility to give back to the communities that have given us so much over the years,” said DMS manager Dan Schreiber. “Our staff is dedicated to raising awareness, participating in events and organizing our own events for non-profit organizations.”

Operation Smile has provided over 3.5 million comprehensive patient evaluations and more than 200,000 free surgeries for children and young adults born with facial deformities. The medical charity has a network of more than 5,000 medical volunteers and programs in over 60 countries.

Join DMS, Elle Communications and OKConcepts this Friday at Lumpy’s for a good cause and the ultimate manly showdown.
