Saturday, March 9 brings the annual celebration of a city-based group that provides practical and direct assistance to pregnant women facing the challenges of pregnancy. Birth Choice of Oklahoma is celebrating 40 years of helping unborn children and their mothers.

This year’s “Life of the Party” event will be at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, 1700 N.E. 63rd Street in Oklahoma City. “The Life of the Party” is an annual event that includes dinner, dancing and an auction, as well as recognition of volunteers.

Birth Choice of Oklahoma, Inc. was founded on March 5, 1973 as a resource center to assist pregnant women. Since then, the group has provided the opportunity and the means for pregnant women to choose life.

Organizers of “the Life of the Party” told The City Sentinel:

“Birth Choice volunteers respond to the needs of pregnant women, to enhance their ability to become self-sufficient and to sustain a life-style that will facilitate a positive contribution to society. From humble beginnings with two folding chairs and a phone, today Birth Choice has offices around the metropolitan area, four state-wide offices and two national affiliates.

“Birth Choice operates Rose Home, a shelter for pregnant homeless women and their children, opened in 1986.  It is the only one of its kind in the State of Oklahoma.”

Over four decades, the group has helped roughly 500,000 women and their babies.

Co-sponsors for The Life of the Party include the Knights of Columbus Oklahoma Council 1038, based in the MidTown area.

Sponsor tables for the March 9 gala come at these levels: $10,000 (Diamond), $5,000 (Sappphire), $2,500 (Ruby) and $1,500 (Emerald). Single tickets are available for $100 each, or $800 per table.

Donors are encouraged to send checks or credit card information to: Birth Choice of Oklahoma, Inc., P.O. Box 94533, Oklahoma City, OK 73143-4533. Information about the Birth Choice gala is available by telephoning Barbara, at 405-606-8248.
