Verizon Wireless celebrated the second anniversary of the initial nationwide launch of its 4G LTE network on December 5, 2010. Oklahoma City was among the first 38 cities nationwide where Verizon’s 4G LTE network was unveiled on that date. Since then, the company has aggressively expanded its 4G LTE network across Oklahoma in major metropolitan areas as well as rural areas and currently offers coverage to more than 82% of the state’s population.
“Oklahomans quickly realized the benefits in speed and connectivity our 4G LTE network offers and we will complete the rollout of our 4G LTE network across the Sooner State, and the nation, in 2013,” said Dean Taylor, president of the South Central Region of Verizon Wireless. “We want our customers from big cities to rural America to have that 4G LTE advantage, both in their personal lives and in business.”
Since launching its 4G LTE network two years ago, four out of five Americans are now covered with the blazingly fast speed and reliability of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Network. In Oklahoma, Verizon covers more than 202 communities across the state including Bartlesville, Altus, Ardmore, Durant, Chickasha, Lawton, Duncan, Ponca City, Stillwater, Cushing and many more. Coverage is also continuous along the I-44 corridor from Randlett on the Texas state line, to Lawton and all the way to Claremore, north of Tulsa.
4G LTE Coverage and Speed.
In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast. Verizon’s 3G network, the most reliable high-speed data network in the country, allows customers in 3G coverage areas who purchase 4G LTE devices today to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds when the faster network becomes available in their area or when they travel to areas already covered by 4G LTE.
4G LTE Devices
Verizon Wireless provides its customers with the largest portfolio of 4G LTE compatible smartphones and tablets such as the new iPad and iPhone 5, Window’s Nokia Lumia 822, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Droid DNA and Samsung Galaxy Note, as well as 4G LTE mobile hot spots and USB modems.
Combined Solutions in Oklahoma
Additionally, Verizon Wireless works in collaboration with Cox Communications in Oklahoma to deliver superior video entertainment, blazingly fast internet and mobile accessibility, at home and on the go. The company also works closely with Pioneer Cellular and Cross Communications as part of Verizon’s LTE in Rural America program, delivering 4G LTE to customers living in rural Oklahoma.
