Kay Floyd gained 904 votes (63 percent of the total) to gain the Democratic party nomination in the state House District 88 seat in MidTown Oklahoma City. Floyd defeated Mike Dover, who had 499 votes (37 percent).

Although turnout was low, it was higher than anticipated by Floyd’s team of activists. The campaign exceeded vote goals throughout the district, and won every precinct in the final but unofficial tally. The Election Board will certify the result later this week.

In an interview with The City Sentinel, Floyd said education, rather than the economy, was the top concern she encountered as she ran a door-to-door campaign.
