In preparation for the 2011 AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City (scheduled for September), the Second Annual “One Night Only” fundraising event is set for Monday July 25 at The Copa, 2200 Northwest 39th Expressway, organizers said.

This year’s Broadway – New York style extravaganza will begin at 7 p.m. with a buffet dinner and silent auction, followed by entertainment at 8 p.m. (Doors open at 6 p.m.)

The evening’s host will be Jozlyn Welch, former Miss Oklahoma USofA at Large 2008.  Entertainment will include performances by current and former award winners Raven Delray, Roxie Heart, Taylor Bryans, Sonja Martinez, Alison Scott, Renee Anderson and Steve Sublett.

There are many coveted items for the silent auction including an OKC Thunder Team autographed basketball, items autographed by OU Heisman Trophy winners Jason White, Billy Sims and Steve Owens and by OU coach Bob Stoops, dinner packages to several Oklahoma City restaurants, art paintings and drawings, antique items, and much more.

Dinner is buffet style with roast beef, mashed potatoes, salad, steam veggies, green beans, and strawberry shortcake. Drinks will be served throughout the event. Teleflora will donate floral centerpieces again this year.

John Greer, Board of Directors President for AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City stated, “The “One Night Only” fundraiser is open to the entire community. The AIDS Walk encompasses all walks of life and we raise funds to give back to our community. Those who support any of our AIDS Walk OKC events support our community.”

Proceeds from “One Night Only” will support the 2011 AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City. This year’s theme is “Each Step Brings Hope”. The Walk and 5K Run will raise funds that are directed back into the community for HIV/AIDS education and awareness. Both events will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25 in Bricktown.

Since 1998, AIDS Walk has distributed more than $500,000 to HIV/AIDS nonprofit organizations serving the greater Oklahoma City community through direct health services, HIV/AIDS education and prevention and community awareness.

The seven nonprofit organizations in the Oklahoma City metro area that received grants from the AIDS Walk in 2010 include the American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma; Latino Community Development Agency; Guiding Right, Inc, Legal Aid Service of Oklahoma; RAIN-Oklahoma; Other Options, Inc.; and Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma, Inc.

Tickets for the 2nd Annual “One Night Only” event on Monday, July 25 are $40 per person in advance or at the door.  Last year this event was sold out so reservations are recommended and can be made by calling The Copa at 405-525-0730.

Taking place the week of the AIDS Walk on Thursday, September 22nd will be “Fashion Walks.”  This fashion show fundraiser at the Skirvin Hotel will feature designs of “Project Runway” famed Jonathan Kayne and Mychael Knight.
