Airport Crews Continue to Clear Taxiways & Roadways

OKLAHOMA CITY, Wednesday, February 09, 2011 – Will Rogers World Airport is open for aircraft operations with one runway in very good condition and key taxiways to the terminal ramp cleared.  Fed Ex and several general aviation flights have already had operations this morning.

The first commercial arrival of the day arrived at 9:15am and was expected to depart at 9:45am.  More flights will start arriving in the next hour.  Commercial flight schedules should begin to return to normal by early afternoon.

Airport maintenance crews worked throughout the night to keep the airport open.  Conditions with this storm were a bit more favorable with higher visibility and a dryer snow.  The crews will continue to work throughout the day clearing the other runways and remaining taxiways as well as the entry roadways.

Parking lots are in fair to good condition.  Crews began working in the very early morning hours clearing aisles, ramps and exit lanes.

While commercial flight will begin to return to normal, travelers are still advised to check with the airline for flight status.
