The Gold Dome announced today the hosting of “Business Social Under the Dome” once monthly on a Thursday, at 1112 N.W. 23rd in Oklahoma City.

The monthly business socials are geared to: Offer local business professionals opportunities for more face to face networking, provide potential tenants and event planners a chance to tour the facilities and promote the Gold Dome’s various events, programs and projects that will be featured as a part of the Gold Dome’s 2011 marketing campaign, “Make it Happen at The Dome”. Every social will include live music, complimentary food and a business-to-business activity.

The new “Bistro Under the Dome.” The Bistro is scheduled to open Jan. 31 and will offer daily breakfast from 7 am to 9 am and lunch from 11 am to 2 pm, downstairs under the Gold Dome lobby. The menu is being touted as “homemade gourmet” and will offer lower-than-average prices, daily specials , wi-fi and call-in to-go orders. Thursday’s event will also roll-out samples of the Bistro’s new signature Gold Dome menu items and showcase recent Bistro renovations highlighting the building’s event capabilities.

“Our socials will offer more than just great food and entertainment,” said Dr. Irene Lam, Gold Dome owner. “It’s a real chance for local professionals to make a connection. From networking, to office space, to event planning, we invite all to come out and find out how they can make it happen at the Dome.”

Additional Gold Dome plans for 2011 include bringing in select retailers and events in an effort to foster a diverse atmosphere and hub of community and social awareness. The venue will also begin promoting business meeting packages, with catered lunches, featured guest artists in the Multi-Cultural Society Art Gallery and monthly lecture series hosted by local community leaders.
The Gold Dome building was built in 1958 as the Classen State Bank and is owned by Dr. Irene Lam of Bona Vision Eye Center.  The historic building was the fifth geodesic dome constructed in the world, and was known for being “one of the nation’s most revolutionary bank designs” patented by architect R. Buckminster Fuller. Listed as an Oklahoma Historical Site, the Dome is constructed of 625 panels, ranging in size from 7.5 to 11.5 feet in length, 60 – 70 pounds in weight each, and spanning a diameter of 145 feet.

The interior covers approximately 27,000 square feet and currently houses the Gold Dome Multi-Cultural Society, Bite Rite, CAIR, The Abernathy Group, The Prohibition Room, Bona Vision Eye Center, Edward Jones, Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Massage by Linda, Phil Napier LSI Assessments, Gold Dome Mentoring Center, Field Guide, The Rental Helper, Wordizm and The Marketing Company.
